About us

Beads by Xquiisite was created by Mariama Kebbeh. She first started making waist beads at the age of 12 for her father in his small shop in the Bronx. The shop closed when she was 19, but when she went to The Gambia, her parents homeland she began to have a fascination with collecting waist beads. Mariama then started making her own in 2014 and selling it on eBay.

Bead by Xquiisite's waist beads are handmade by Mariama using various bead. Although most of the waist beads are made by her, some of her waist beads are made by local merchants from Ghana and The Gambia.
